Many people were affected by the sudden and tragic deaths of Bram and Shari Dorresteijn at the end of April 2014.  To help remember these two truly great people, and with the support of their families, an endowment fund is being created through the University of Wisconsin Foundation (UWF).  This endowment fund will be used to provide two scholarships each and every year - one to a male and one to a female incoming freshman student based on the following criteria:

1. Academic achievement
2. Participation in athletics
3. Community involvement

Bram and Shari were proud, passionate UW-Madison (UW) alumni who epitomized the badger spirit. 
Our hope is the recipients of the scholarship will be similarly fulfilled by their time on campus.

Bram graduated in 2002 with a triple major in Sociology, Legal Studies, and French along with a certificate in Criminal Justice.  He was a walk on for the UW mens soccer team where he was a standout defenseman from 1998-2000.  Bram served as co-captain of the 1999 team and was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He was also the recipient of the prestigious William Reddan Spirit of Soccer Award.

Shari graduated in 2003 in the Department of Kinesiology Athletic Training Program and in 2006 received a Master of Science from the UW Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. In 2003, she was awarded the Tasha Bolton Outstanding Athletic Training Student award, which is presented by the Badger Sports Medicine staff.  She later went on to become the Program Manager for Physician Extender Services for the UW Hospital and Clinics.  Shari was rightfully entrusted with the health of myriad student-athletes and staff over the course of her time at UW and was a pillar of the Wisconsin sports medicine community.
